Day 1: Bangui Ledger Plaza
Upon arrival at the M’poko International airport, you are met by our representative and transferred to the hotel for check-in, briefing, dinner, and night.
Day 2: Bangui – Mbaiki – Bangui Ledger Plaza
We leave Bangui early this morning for Mbaiki that lays a hundred km from the capital. The road to Mbaiki is scenery to thick tropical rainforest disrupted by tropical cash crop plantations like coffee, cacao or palm plantations, habitat and culture of the Bantu people including the Lobaye tribes. A striking encounter along the way is the numerous pygmy settlements that lays on both sides of the bank of the road as we make our way closer to Mbaiki which we attain in the early afternoon. There are few numbers of Babinga Pygmy settlements around Lobaye including Kenga that we visit this day. After spending some time with our pygmy hosts sharing their culture and lifestyle, we take the road back to Bangui which we attain after a couple of hours. Dinner and overnight at Ledger Plaza Hotel.
Day 3: Bangui – Boali – Bangui Ledger Plaza
We go for a day trip to Boali that lies a hundred km afar northward from Bangui. The road to Boali is completely paved and is scenery to long stretch of forest savannah vegetation dotted with clusters of villages where dwellers live from small scale farming, petit trading, traditional hunting, and fishery. Attainable after approximately a couple of hours or so, the Boali falls are among few of the most fascinating and awe-inspiring natural monuments in the country. They measure 250 m wide x 50m high and are impressive. Adjacent to the falls is the Boali hydraulic dam that we also visit before lunch at a nearby restaurant. In the early afternoon, we drive back to Bangui which we attain after a couple of hours.
Day 4: Bangui – Ubangi – Bangui Ledger Plaza
Early After breakfast, we leave the hotel and embark on a morning tour across ‘Bangui La Coquette’ a name reminiscent of the heydays of Bangui, a once stunning city if not the most appealing capital city in the days when the country was part of French Equatorial Africa along with Gabon, Congo Brazza and Chad. Today, after three decades of turmoil that have severely affected the country, Bangui still boasts some of the landmarks of its past glory: the Romanesque white arch with green trimmings, L’Arche Blanche Triomphale built in 1979 by late dictator Jean Bedel is the gateway into the city and ushers you straight into ‘La Place de la Republique’, a busy neighbourhood. Close by is the beautiful ‘Le Palais Présidentiel’, formerly Bokassa Palace. Other attractions in the city include the Marche Central, Cathédrale Notre Dame de Bangui, the central Mosque, the top hill “Bangui La Coquette” and the Boganda Museum that has been closed since the last unrest and is still awaiting to be refurbished.
In the afternoon, we sign up for a boat excursion over the Ubangi River where we will unwind by the tranquillity of the River. During this boat ride, we encounter few fishermen in their villages along the bank of the river. We also pay them a courtesy visit as we proceed upstream the River, sightseeing or visiting some of the newly created villages as a result of the establishment of refugee camps during the last unrest that took place in the country.
On the other side of the River, we may have a panoramic view of Zongo, a small town located opposite Bangui, the village of the DRC formal dictator, president Mobutu Sesse Seko.
In the late afternoon as we sail downstream warmed by a soothing sundown, we make our way to the pier in Bangui and board our private car for the hotel. Dinner and overnight at Leger Plaza Hotel
