You will be met at the Bangui International Airport by your guide who will lend you airport assistance if need be, and get you transferred to the Ledger Plaza Hotel for check-in, refreshment and briefing. If you are fit, you may go for a Bangui city tour in the afternoon. This city tour brings you across the highlights of Bangui including the Boganda Museum, the Bangui Market, the Cathedral Notre Dame, the Central Mosque and a drive along the bank of the mighty Ubangui river, offering you a great view of Zongo in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Alternatively, you can take a two hours’ drive to visit the Boali falls and the adjacent dam before returning to the Ledger Plaza Hotel.

Day2 – Mon: Bangui – Bayanga

Early this morning we leave the hotel, drive across the PK 5 suburb and and head on for the Sangha Mbairé road that leads to Bayanga, the administrative locality of Dzanga Sangha. The road is partially tarred until M’Baiki where the unpaved road starts. It is about an 11h drive over almost 500 km with interesting stops at Berengo to the memorial of Bokassa, the Ngotto NP park (if time permits) and many isolated bantu & Pygmy villages along the bank of the road. We’re likely to attain Dzanga in the late afternoon. Overnight in Doli Lodge or similar

Day 3 – Tue: Gorilla tracking and Agile Mangabey in Baï Hokou

Today we have an early breakfast (6:00 a.m) before heading to Baï Hokou, the research camp in the heart of the Dzanga Ndoki NP, where our Gorilla trek starts. Depending on how far away the Gorilla nested the night before, it usually takes 45min – 2hrs to spot the Gorilla family. We will spend an hour in close proximity to the Gorilla family. Our Pygmy hosts and guides will be leading us in this expedition.
Later on we walk back to Baï Hokou and after refreshments, we go for a short walk close to the camp to watch a huge flock of Agile Mangabey interacting in their natural social life. In the afternoon, we drive back to our Lodge for dinner and night.

Day 4 – Wed: Visit Dzanga Baï Elephants

After breakfast, we board our 4WD and drive across a bumpy track on our way to Dzanga Baï. After approximately half an hour ride, we reach the entry point of the Bai and embark on a 20min forest walk crossing a shallow stream (water level can reach up to the knees) and make our way to the stilt platform in the middle of the forest. From this elevated watchtower, we spend the day watching huge number of African Forest Elephants in the Dzanga clearing, as well as numerous other species like the rare Bongo, Sitatunga, Dwarf Buffalo, and a varied numbers of birds.

We return to the Lodge in the early afternoon and spend the day chilling out in the Lodge Bar with a wide view on the Sangha River.

Day 5 – Thu: Forest Expedition with the Pygmies

Today is a cultural experience with the Ba’aka Pygmies. Although you may not enjoy witnessing animal capture, you may enjoy learning how the Pygmies hunt for their food in the forest; including picking mushrooms, seeds, roots and vegetables. Most interesting is the medicinal plant experience led by a knowledgeable Pygmy woman, who basically knows which plant can heal each sickness.
In the evening we go for a village walk in Bayanga and meet with the local people in their normal daily life. In the night, you’ll be entertained by a spectacular series of the Ba’aka Pygmies traditional theme dances and chants around a gigantic fire.
