This odyssey takes you on a journey through some of the most remote and lesser-known areas of West Africa. The region is known for its rich wildlife and diverse cultures, and offers a unique experience for travelers looking to explore beyond the more popular destinations. With vast tropical forests, pristine beaches, bustling cities, and warm and welcoming people, this journey provides a glimpse into a side of Africa that is often overlooked.
As you travel through the region, you will visit four countries that are rarely visited by tourists. The Ivory Coast, Gabon, Sao Tomé & Principe, and Angola are all rich in history and culture, and offer a glimpse into the diverse landscape of West Africa. The countries are multilingual, with French, Portuguese, Spanish, and English being the most commonly spoken languages alongside more than 2000 different tribal languages. This odyssey is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture and history of the region and experience the beauty and diversity of West Africa.

Visiting the vibrant markets of Angola
Angola is a country rich in culture and history, and its markets are a reflection of this. During this odyssey, we will visit some of Angola’s vibrant markets such as the Roque Santeiro market, one of the largest in Angola and famous for its wide variety of goods, including textiles, traditional crafts, and local food. We will also have the opportunity to explore the bustling streets and learn about the local customs and way of life.

Abidjan – Assinie Eholité Lodge
Abidjan – Assinie Eholité LodgeUpon arrival at Abidjan’s international airport, our team will be there to welcome you and assist you with airport formalities. You will then be transferred to the beautiful Assinie Eholité Lodge where you will spend the next two nights. The lodge is located in the peaceful and serene surroundings of Assinie and offers comfortable accommodation with all necessary amenities. You can spend your day at leisure, relaxing by the pool, or exploring the nearby areas.
Assinie Eholité Lodge
You will have a full day at leisure to explore the surroundings of the Lodge, or simply relax and unwind. You can take a walk in the lush green gardens, or enjoy the beautiful beaches nearby. The Lodge offers a variety of activities such as swimming, fishing, and bird watching. You can also indulge in a massage or spa treatment to rejuvenate your body and mind. Breakfast will be provided in the morning, and you can choose to dine at the lodge’s restaurant for lunch and dinner.
Assinie
After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, we depart Assinie for the bustling city of Abidjan in the early afternoon. The journey to Abidjan is approximately 2 hours, and along the way, we will pass through picturesque coastal towns, lush rainforests, and vibrant local markets. As we approach Abidjan, we will catch our first glimpse of the city’s towering skyscrapers and bustling streets.
Upon arrival in Abidjan, the group will check-in at the Tiama Hotel, a luxurious and well-appointed hotel located in the heart of the city. The hotel offers comfortable rooms, a variety of dining options, and a range of recreational facilities, including a fitness center and swimming pool. After check-in, the group will have the remainder of the day to explore the city at their leisure.
Abidjan – Grand Bassam Etoile du Sud Hotel
After breakfast at the hotel, the group will check-out and depart for the historic coastal town of Grand Bassam. The journey from Abidjan to Grand Bassam will take approximately 1 hour and will take us through some of the most picturesque landscapes in the region.
Upon arrival in Grand Bassam, the group will check-in at the Etoile du Sud Hotel, a charming and elegant hotel located on the beachfront. The hotel offers comfortable rooms, a variety of dining options, and a range of recreational facilities, including a fitness center and swimming pool. After check-in, the group will have the remainder of the day to explore the town at their leisure, visiting the historic colonial architecture, visiting the local market, or simply relaxing on the beach. They will spend 2 nights in bed and breakfast, spending the days at leisure in the hotel.
Grand Bassam Etoile du Sud Hotel
This day is spent at leisure in the hotel, allowing you to fully relax and take in the beautiful surroundings. Guests can spend their time exploring the local area, lounging by the pool, or taking part in any activities offered by the hotel. Breakfast is included in the accommodation, giving you a delicious start to your day. Guests can also choose to add on additional services or activities if they desire.
Grand Bassam – Abidjan – Libreville Park Inn By Radisson Hotel
We will depart the hotel at a designated time and make our way to Abidjan airport to catch the Air Cote d’Ivoire flight, HF 824, which departs at 7:10 P.M. The flight will take approximately 4 hours and upon arrival in Libreville airport, you will be greeted by our staff member and transferred to the Park Inn By Radisson Hotel. You will spend 2 nights here, with bed and breakfast included in your accommodation.
Libreville – Pongara – Libreville Park Inn By Radisson Hotel
After breakfast, we will leave the hotel and transfer to St Michel pier where we will board a powered boat for a 1-hour water transfer to La Baie Des Tortues Luths, a mid-end lodge located on the banks of the Pongara National Park. You will spend the day here at leisure, where you will be welcomed with a drink and given the opportunity to enjoy a delicious lunch. You will also have access to the hotel’s facilities including the swimming pool, canoes, ping-pong table, baby football, and balloon. This is the perfect opportunity to explore the national park and spot the diverse wildlife that calls it home.
Libreville – Sao Tomé Pestana Ocena Resort
After a warm welcome at Sao Tomé International Airport, you will be transferred to Pestana Ocena Resort, a luxurious hotel located on the beachfront. With the rest of the day at leisure, you can take a dip in the crystal clear waters of the ocean or relax on the sandy beach. You can also take advantage of the hotel’s facilities, such as the swimming pool, spa and fitness center.
Sao Tomé Pestana Ocena Resort
Over the next three days, you will have the opportunity to explore the island of Sao Tomé at your own pace. The resort offers a variety of optional activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, and fishing. You can also take a guided tour of the island to discover its rich culture, vibrant history, and stunning landscapes.
Sao Tomé – Luanda Tropico Hotel
In the afternoon, we will depart from the hotel and transfer to the airport for our flight to Luanda, Angola. Upon arrival, we will be greeted by our representative and transferred to the Tropico Hotel, where you will spend the next two nights. After check-in and a brief rest, we will embark on a city tour of Luanda, where you will get a chance to explore the city’s historic landmarks, cultural centers, and vibrant markets. You will spend the night at the hotel with bed and breakfast.
Luanda Tropico Hotel
This morning we leave Luanda and embark on a 30-minute journey to Ponta Das Palmeirinhas. Once we arrive, we board our canoe for a 20-minute cruise to the beautiful Musulo Peninsula. We spend the day exploring the peninsula, taking in the natural beauty and relaxing on the pristine beaches. The peninsula is known for its crystal clear waters, and it’s a great spot for swimming, sunbathing, and water activities. As the day comes to an end, we return to the mainland and head back to the hotel for the night. Breakfast will be provided at the hotel.
Luanda – Return Flight
We spend the day at leisure in the hotel, taking the time to rest and reflect on the amazing experiences we’ve had during our journey. You can spend the time exploring the hotel’s facilities, or you can take a stroll around the city and pick up some souvenirs for your loved ones. In the evening, we leave the hotel and head to the airport for check-in for our return flight home. This marks the end of our West Africa to South Africa odyssey, and we hope that you have had a memorable and enjoyable experience.
